The New Peasants - A Celebration in Originality
Chet Smith – Trumpet, Bass, Lead Vocals
Billy Rodriguez – Drums, vocals
Anthony Garcia – Lead guitar, vocals
In the summer of 1967, Chet Smith walked thru the fallout from Kaiser Steel to the Fontana Square - there was a band playing on the back of a flatbed truck - looking as if they had escaped from juvenile hall - turning back flips, playing James Brown tunes - and they were so very funky - hailing from Colton, CA they called themselves "The Peasants"
Chet became a professional musician at 17 and played in every imaginable musical scenario-from jazz to rock to orchestral to dogs jumping thru hoops of fire- But he never forgot the sound and impression left upon him from that flatbed truck.
Decades later having come full circle, musically He formed a band with Bill Rodriguez and Anthony Garcia. Both cats from Colton (a skip and a hop from Fontana) and they found it only appropriate to call themselves
"The New Peasants"
Expect the Blues to wander off into the Jazz and back again,
Chet’s mellow trumpet will go to Chicago, and take you to places
you always dreamed of visiting.
The New Peasants will make
you happy you came to play.
